Michter’s Toasted Barrel Bourbon Returns!

After three long years, Michter’s Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon is finally returning. The bourbon is aged in a traditional, heavily toasted barrel first, then finished in lightly toasted barrels, with staves that have been dried for 18 months (significantly longer than most barrels). The bourbon starts releasing in September, release will be at 91.4 proof and retail for around $60. Happy hunting!

Bourbon Heritage Month

September for bourbon lovers has long been a favorite time of the year. Many excellent fall releases come out in September, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown is on (Sep 12-16 this year), and it is officially Bourbon Heritage Month. KY Governor Matt Bevin signed a bill officially making September bourbon heritage month for the state of Kentucky. Some of you may be confused like me wondering, “Wait, wasn’t it already Bourbon Heritage Month?” Well, it was… Nationally. Senator Jim Bunning from Kentucky, sponsored a bill which passed unanimously in 2007 making September National Bourbon Month. After all, bourbon is officially an American spirit per the 1964 congressional act, so it only makes sense to have a National Bourbon Heritage month as well. But of course, Kentucky makes the vast majority of all bourbon so it also makes sense to see them pass similar legislation. Regardless, enjoy September with some great bourbons!

GlenDronach Revival 15

Another three year wait is over; this time for the Scotch lovers. Glendronach is bringing back its sherry finished powerhouse, Revival 15yr. Bottled at 46% ABV, like it was before being discontinued in 2015, the release is aged in PX and Oloroso casks and will be non-chill filtered with natural color. It will released globally following a few weeks of distillery only availability.

George Brown Birthday

Parent company of The Macallan and Highland Park, Edrington has purchased a minority stake in Wyoming Whiskey. This will allow the brand to extend the range of their portfolio across much more of the country. The young wheated whiskey producer is excited as noted by their Tweet earlier this week here.
